Armstrong Agriculture

Armstrong, being a smaller city, has quality local industries that help keep it alive. While it’s mainly known during the summer months as the location for the IPE (or Interior Provincial Exhibition and Stampede) the rest of the year it’s still a bustling city with plenty of hardworking people keeping the economy alive. The main industry of the city is agriculture, grain farming of alfalfa and wheat, logging, and ranching. It might be a small town, but it has a lot to offer.

Agriculture

Armstrong Asparagus Farm

One of the most unique farms to the Armstrong area, the Armstrong Asparagus Farm has been in business since 1996. Since then, they’ve been hard at work growing asparagus for the region and have built a reputation for their high quality product. Asparagus is surprisingly high in nutrients with the highest being vitamin K which is known for it ability to not only to increase bone mineral density but also in supporting heart health. Check them out and pop in to buy or try some fresh asparagus.

Logging

Brown International Services

One of the cornerstones of the BC economy, logging is a massive industry in BC. Armstrong has a speciality of being a logging city with one of the local companies that works to harvest trees for repurposing being Brown International Services. Al Brown, the owner of the company started working in the heavy duty industry in 1955 and since then has built a thriving company not only working on logging, but also aiding in construction and agriculture efforts. On top of this he also offers parts and sales of heavy-duty machinery for each logging, construction and agriculture. All of these services makes the company multi-purpose and well-rounded to be able to serve the needs of the community.

Ranching

Ranching has been around since the 1850s in BC, and it stays strong in Armstrong. It’s an important industry, without it we’d have no food or clothes (or significantly less at any rate). For those unclear with what ranching means, the term refers to raising livestock for food (like cows) or wool (i.e. sheep). In the case of Armstrong the ranchers are hardworking and dedicated to their job, and in fact, are the main contributors to the local economy. If you’re curious about the ranching life a good place to check out would be O’Keefe Ranch which is in the area.

We provide trailers to many of these farmers and tradespeople to help them in their day to day work. We’re proud to supply Armstrong’s workers!
